He was the smallest at birth, and he lagged behind the others in development. He didn't crack the one pound milestone until he was 5 weeks old. He weathered pneumonia and demodex mange. But if this little big man knew the odds were against him, he certainly didn't let on. He approached every minute of his short life with grace, courage, and happiness. He touched every human he interacted with (and dozens who only knew him on social media). At 8 weeks old, his heart had just had enough. .
Saying goodbye to Dustin is the most painful experience I've had as a breeder. But he was loved, and he loved in return. And watching him interact with his environment, discover new things, and play with his toys and his siblings is hands down one of the most rewarding.
