I grew up in a Boxer world. Dog shows. Breeders. Boxers. Always Boxers. But - having rescued and fallen in love with the breed later in life, we knew we had to make Boston Terrier’s a staple in our family. And what is a Boston Terrier if not a Boxer- Lite! However, health and quality was a major factor – we loved our previous rescue but watching her health and quality of life deteriorate in front of our eyes utterly broke us. So we took our time and got referrals and researched bloodlines to find the right breeder who could provide the best health checks and bloodlines. Although this is no guarantee – it does ensure we are off to the best start possible for a long, healthy and happy life together with our tiny terror … I mean, terrier.

Time and details aside, we were able to successfully find a breeder we felt comfortable with and confident in and who wholeheartedly demonstrated the kind of love for the breed that we could truly appreciate and respect.

I saw one photo of a tiny female Boston – and I was in. I knew her eyes. I felt her spirit. I knew she was meant for our family. I just needed my husband to meet her, see her lineage, and move forward with what I already knew in my heart was meant to be. The second we met the whole brood, we were in. We knew it. We felt it. It was meant to be.

Then Whoopi - Now Emmy - was instantly a part of our family, without any hesitation.

Spunky and silly, well adjusted, brilliant and bright – Amelia Earheart (Emmy) has blessed our lives in more ways than we ever could have imagined. My husband often becomes overwhelmed with pure love and joy for her… and will say things like, “Babe – she has to be literally the cutest animal that has ever existed, on the planet!” or, “She is just too cute – it's ridiculous. It shouldn’t be possible.” “I just love her so much, I feel worried sometimes that I could kiss her and love on her too much and hurt her!”…. to which I respond, “Please don’t Lenny our puppy.”

It is hard to explain but if you’ve ever felt it, you know the depth of pure love, joy and complete attachment when you’ve bonded so deep - and this is the beautiful gift we were given when we met Dolores & John; we feel blessed every day that they deemed us worthy to raise this bundle of perfection.

Emmy is also absolutely obsessed with her two brothers, General Patton (Great Dane – Black Lab Mix) and Troy (a Snowshoe Cat). The pups are literally inseparable, and it melts my heart every single day to watch them play and snuggle and demonstrate the true nature of each of their souls. Although, Troy could probably take her or leave her… especially when she dead weight sprawls across his back when he’s innocently trying to sleep on his own. Nonetheless – whether reciprocated or not – Emmy loves her Troy.

Because of her incredible athletic ability, brilliance and eagerness to please, we’ve begun to and plan to continue working with her to build onto her strengths. We have initiated the process in teaching her to talk using speaking button commands, to place demands. Also, I would really love to get her into either agility, lure course racing, or something equally athletic and challenging because I truly feel she would not only thrive physically but mentally as well.

Just like both of her namesakes, she has demonstrated that she is both brave and beautiful. Kind and gentle. Fierce and powerful. Brilliant and subtle. She loves to adventure, camp, hike and play. And – she is ever the class clown!

Time will tell for this little one – but one thing is for certain: WE LOVE OUR SWEET AMELIA EARHART.
