Rebel had been a part of our family for almost a year when we started thinking about adding another Boston. We knew that she enjoyed being with us, but we saw how much she enjoyed being with other dogs at shows or at the dog park, so we thought a full-time friend would be a good thing. When we first met Gaga, we were struck by how different she was from Rebel. Even though she was a very young puppy, we knew she’d never get to be as big as Rebs, but that provided an interesting opportunity. While we had already enjoyed a great deal of success with Rebs in the show ring by this time, we’d also been frustrated by the number of judges who thought she was “too big for a girl”. Gaga could provide the other side of the coin .. the Yin to Rebel’s Yang. Even so, I was hesitant. I did not want Rebel to feel as if she were being replaced. (Yes, I know I’m humanizing her. Roll your eyes if you want to.) It took Gaga only a short time to gain Rebel’s acceptance, and then she focused her efforts on me. Well, there is only so much cuteness I can resist, and Gaga had far more than that. Before long, she was sharing the recliner (and me) with Rebel.

In the immortal words of a fellow fancier of the breed, Bostons are like potato chips... you can't possibly have just one (for long). Gaga came into our lives almost a year after Rebel and as John said, she's a completely different example of what I love about the breed. Marshan's son Deegan named Gaga hours after her birth, and I thought that call name was perfect with what would be her registered name. Naughty Norteno's Oracle@Dephi -- the perfect marriage of past and present, with an eye toward the future. She was born on our 18th anniversary with a heart emblazoned on her belly. She was meant to be ours. Eleven years later she's the senior member of our team, with titles on both sides of her registered name. She still loves to chase the baggies, and her favorite space in the house is atop the headrest on the recliner.
